I kept listening and oofta. I guess to some degree my brain interprets it as their sempiternal but where that album at least sat with me while I was listening to it, the stuff they're doing here just makes me kind of amused?

It's definitely a grower.
Very stellar compositions and Rou's best vocal performance yet. They took risk with this album and it paid off nicely. The only things that are slightly irking on this album would be some arrangements of the order of songs and some instrumental tracks are very bland and not really needed.
What's also keeping me from giving this album a 5 score would be the lacking guitar work.
The guitar riffs are great and everything but it needed more heavier and faster riff structures to empower the core sound of everything.
The EP Rat Race is a classic because it has the right style and insanely paced instrumentals.

Haven't properly paid attention to the lyrics but this is giving me some sweet uplifting vibes. As in you put in on and it bangs and hell yess

As an overall album Rat Race probably is their best effort despite it being an EP

The pressure's on. has massively grown on me. The way it builds is really reminiscent of some of the brighter moments in The Spark.

The spark ressonated with me miles more than this. That been said, this still might reach the 3.5 status for me.

listening to it for the first time, not so into elctronic rock and pop punk with emo generally, but so far it sounds bearable.
dont know about the pretentious use of ø though, as a dane then i feel like theres no reason for using it instead of o, since o isnt replaceable with ø under any circumstances.

man after songs like the last garrison, myopia, anaesthetist, torn apart....nothing here lives up for me. they had such a cool mix of electronic, rock, metalcore. this whole album just feels like an electronic disjointed mess with no real highlight tracks. Wish I could hear what you guys are hearing

Surprised by the rating here, it's good but it doesn't beat any of their first 4 albums

Idk this is the first album by them that captures my attention for more than the odd bop. I do wish it had a bit more guitarz but that's just not what it wants to be
(never checked The Spark)

this is the first record of theirs ive been into in some time.
enjoy take to the skies for the trancey synths and chugga, and common dreads musically. this one is on commons dreads level for me - i dig the uplifting and fun vibes, and musically its super interesting.
also the spark bored the living fuck out of me, and the records before that i only liked 1 or so song per record tbh
all in all, fucking great record this time IMO

I liked the mix of hardcore and electronics like in The Last Garrison (a personal favorite) but let's be honest, Rou is the mastermind behind Enter Shikari and I feel, given he handled the production and all, this album is at least 80% his idea of what ES should sound like.
And this is why it's so good.
(Also I'm glad the guitarist (?) sing less in this one, never was a fan of his voice)

@gravity
Yea, the guitarist sometimes did vocals, but most of the time it was the bassist who did the additional vocals
