I think this still holds country of the year for me even though Isbell's is close. Absolutely nothing beats Suzuki Dreams.

Not a big fan of country in general but this one took me by surprise... such a good voice and for some reason kinda reminds me of Elliott Smith
Only songs that fell “flat” (still won’t skip them) were the opener and Suzuki Dreams

Damn that's bizarre, a 4 rating and Suzuki Dreams a least fave
|

Yeah, Suzuki Dreams is the only track I don't care for either. Too orchestral/broadway like for me.

Best song is Tired Tower probably. Maybe Strawberry Lite

I love this to the tune of thinking about droppin' the old 5 on it, but I still see Suzuki Dreams as something of a lowlight (it's good though, just like everything here, I'd just so happen to rank about 7-8 of the 11 tracks over it).

Something Relative was odd, it started out as nothing spectacular but by the final 30 seconds or so my view of it completely shifted and it became the most memorable song from the record. And yeah I’m not sure what it is about Suzuki Dreams quite yet since it was only first listen, but nothing about it really stood out to me. Will definitely be replaying this a lot though so there’s no doubt in my mind it’ll grow on me

i definitely like this, though i'm not quite as into his voice as i am with, say, orville peck. gotta spend more time with it, but it's good stuff.

I could never 5 an album with a cover this atrociously bad, could be a 4.5 one day though

It’s a great cover, really don’t get why anybody has an issue with it.

I hated the cover at first but now I like it. It's oddly fitting for the music.

"I could never 5 an album with a cover this atrociously bad, could be a 4.5 one day though"
imagine docking points off of an album because of its cover. i mean, the artwork to swan's to be kind is fucking awful imo, but it doesn't stop it from being a bona fide masterpiece. suppose it falls on how you look at an album as a whole, but to me the music is all that matters

Yeah definitely strange to factor artwork into a rating representative of the music's quality, although I imagine ColeT wasn't being entirely serious.
