overrated pop punk oty

The lyrics are painfully relatable, that's the biggest thing that resonated with me on this. Kick and Losers 1 & 2 are fantastic songs. But idk... I guess I've just been trying to get away from more depressing music

Album is underrated. Lyrics resonate so much harder than Schmaltz, and I love that album.

I wouldn't call this underrated, but to each their own.
@JayEnder I don't mind whether or not an album is uplifting versus depressing. For me, I just find the lyricism clunky, the songs lacking memorability/diversity, a distressing amount of linearity, and so on.
Making an album at any emotional extreme is all well and good so long as it's pulled off well. The formula just doesn't click here like it did before.

Doesn't click to you, the disc has toooons of fans man. I don't want to be that douche, but I think they expanded their fanbase quite a lot compared to Schmaltz with this, so all good and good
this still floors me by the way, maybe being a 29 yo roped on a borderline useless job in a shitty city during COVID times with the risk of having to crawl back to their parents house to not go in the streets might have influenced my judgement on this disc. :p

Also I fucking love to jam this on drums, so much fun stuff here and there it's actually not that linear for being labelled "pop punk".

Well if people like it, people like it. I ain't here to rain on the parade. But there are also a good chunk of us that aren't quite sold on it, and sometimes that's just how it can be.

First relisten since release since i'm now in proper depression mode and I might actually like this even better than Schmaltz. Dude is definitely dramatic at times but it kind of makes it at least a little fun.
Also am I crazy or did Schmaltz's average jump way up since this came out?

I can't stand these vocals. Musically, it's not all that interesting as well

Agree that this is excellent, at least as good as Schmaltz. I find it more consistent and the lyrics are slightly more relatable.

I loved Schmaltz, this just had zero staying power for me and felt really whiny/annoying. idk what changed from schmaltz to this so much but this one just didn't sit right.
