I mean in this specific lane of metal it's at least not the default, and I think darker stuff where the narrator is the victim of larger forces generally skews overtly horrific in a way that MftR is not
Tbh I think the lyrics elsewhere on the album are not amazing (Planet B is thematically similar but kind of clunky and obvious, and self-immolate almost reads like a parody of bad thrash lyrics), that one song in particular just really struck me recently

imo it is very uncontroversial to say that metal is not a lyrically-focused genre overall and metal lyricists have historically gotten away with some pretty egregious lines COUGHjameshetfieldCOUGHCOUGH, I just like to see bands going the extra mile in that regard when they don't necessarily need to
