He's my favorite vocalist in heavy music, no contest, mostly because he's 100% the real deal. So many vocalists can't quite measure up to their studio work when you put them in a live setting. Meanwhile SoI open with The Return and Ben performs it all flawlessly. I saw them live last year and it was glorious.

I mean if you only gave this a 3 I don't know how much the genre has to offer you. There are some good bands but songwriting on this level is rare.

Bog Wraith, Shrine of Malice, Signs of the Swarm, Thirteen Bled Promises, Hollow Prophet are all worth checking out.

honestly the only thing deathcore about this is vocals. musically it's more like straight up melodic, symphonic heavy metal

*death metal, but yeah, not the most deathcore-y deathcore release. But there are definitely deathcore elements other than the vox. They have their chuggy moments.

I second the Shrine of Malice rec. They're pure deathcore but their EP is a super fun listen and their vocalist is very fucking good.
The Breathing Process put out a really good album last year.
