keep listening

Ok I’ve only spun this 5 times so perhaps I have underlistened a tad...but the strong moments aren’t enough to pull me back really. Admittedly if this had Radiohead billing I’d have returned to it more but I just didn’t find this too compelling.

I think on this and The Eraser, he took the time to flesh out his ideas. TMB feels like a bunch of undercooked sketches he couldn't be arsed polishing. Like a proof of concept, or some half-songs he just wanted to get out of his system

TMB isn’t that much inferior to this or The Eraser imo, has some of his best solo songs like Truth Ray, Mother Lode, and Pink Section/Nose Grows Some.

Truth Ray is a laid back, hazy, surreal song, Pink Section/Nose Grows Some is one of his most emotional ballads, The Mother Lode is an excellent longer, more adventurous song with some of the best piano of any Yorke solo track, Interference is a nice short ambient ballad. Like this album, it really gets going starting with track 3.
