The song isn't revolutionary but it was still a fun listen. Petrucci and Portnoy together just work

Still really not a fan of the production here, it's so washy... Musically this is really nice, although I'm not a fan of most of the riffs. With better production and vocals this would actually be a stellar record, better than the self titled for sure

This is their best produced record in forever tbh

100% disagree. The self titled and ADToE sounded better for sure. The Astonishing sounded okay, but the overly sampled drums just ruined that record (production wise). The washiness of this record, combined with the vocals that have too many effects to hide the poor performance, just make this sound very messy. It's a shame because musically this is pretty cool, apart from the drum performance which I'm just not a fan of in most places

The self titled one had really bad drums tbh. Very compressed. It always bothers me when a song off that album kicks in. This one though mever really bothers me that much. Vocals are poor, but apart from that it's pretty sweet. I'll give the self-titled the audible bass though

The drums did sound weird but to be honest they don't bother me that much (which is pretty weird, y'all know I hate overproduced drums). I think the drums on the ST fit very nice into the overall production of the record. Yes it's too compressed, but that bothers me less than when details are just inaudible because the mix is very washy

You guys ready?

I think this album is barely better than The Astonishing if at all. Actually, I think I might enjoy TA more.

He used to be really good too. At least he seems to be putting a little more effort in now compared to say, the previous 10 years. Age will get you man....

I saw them on the tour and splurged for front row. I applauded his efforts for sure.

But he has definitely fell from grace.
