DsO is ESL but their lyrics are pretty damn stunning. There's Latin and French too.

"Coming to think of it, I don't know any song I find cringeworthy in particular. I detest humming, sing-a-longs "oh oooooh wooohh" shit and everything that is not a real word way more cuz it shows me, that the vocalist has nothing else to say and is just cheap. "

Dang for real? I tend to love those moments, especially in metal

Are we talking about when the hook of the song is a wordless melody like a millennial whoop-type woooo? Cos normally I detest it, except when Alice in Chains does it, and lately when Don Broco does it.

Improvised Robert Plant type vocal runs can be hit or miss.

"who is your guys' fav metal vocalist when it comes to lyrics?"

I think at this point Xenoyr from Ne Obliviscaris. It might be seen as pretentious, but it feels deep and meaningful to me and it fits the music perfectly. Casey Crescenzo from The Dear Hunter (not metal I know but he comes from a metal(ish) background) and Mikael Akerfeldt from Opeth are also good contenders.

where do you find superb lyrics? also I would like to throw in Cory Lockwood (A Lot Like Birds, Sufferer). Especially on "No Place". He just totally rocks the concept of "home" where every song represents a specific room of a house. "No Nurture" is a masterpiece when it comes to lyrics imo

Converge has some of the best in the game. I'd argue that ETID is also one of the sharper knives in that drawer. The bar isn't exactly set high, but some acts are exceptional regardless of genre.

To be fair, it's not like Converge has to worry about lines rhyming. :D
