It's not unprovoked exactly, it's because Tyler shitted on his song "Walk On Water" and said it was fucking trash, which was a very personal song for Eminem, as evident by the lyrics

I’m a huge fan of Tyler as well. Have been since Wolf dropped (although at this point Flower Boy is his only extremely well-crafted album to me). But what I took out of that diss was much less the gay bashing part and much more the bit about Earl. Saying how Earl should teach him some things while still back-handedly dissing Earl in the process with the incorrect name. That’s the only part I even noticed during that diss until i saw everyone freaking out about the other part.
Thought it was a pretty funny way of slapping them both

That changes things a bit

The irony of his homophobia is that he’s the most salty, bitter queen in music

Building off what Valkoor said, were people actually not aware of that being the reason???

"
I mean lil pump makes himself look dumb constantly so it wasn’t out of character lmao"
Lol what I meant was it makes j Cole look dumb

One thing’s for sure, earl definitely didn’t write any of the lyrics on flower boy considering how happy they are, I have issues with Tyler’s earlier shit for sure, I bet even Tyler himself does.
Nothing wrong with second half of diss tho.

I ain't gonna tell people what they can or can't be be offended about, but they sure as shit better not come at me and tell me that I should be offended with them. Two way street.
I don't care about the word unless the word is used as an insult. For me, it's always about context. For other people it might be different. You have the right to be offended, and I have the right to not care about anybody else thinks.
EDIT:
And yeah, not only was Em quoting Tyler calling himself that, but it was also in reaction to Tyler's dissing of "Walk on Water" which was a pretty personal track. Em lashing out makes sense, even if it ain't the right course of action.
And funnily enough, Tyler has said some pretty relevant things on this topic awhile back considering it involves him.
"Well, I have gay fans and they don't really take it offensive, so I don't know. If it offends you, it offends you. If you call me a nigger, I really don't care, but that's just me, personally. Some people might take it the other way; I personally don't give a shit."
and my personal favorite
"Hahahahahahahaha How The Fuck Is Cyber Bullying Real Hahahaha Nigga Just Walk Away From The Screen Like Nigga Close Your Eyes Haha"

"Okay what's the deal with the Tyler callout? Why is everyone so surprised em said faggot? It's only like the millionth time he's said the word over the last 20 years, am I missing something?"
He used that word against someone who was vulnerable, and that's fucking awfully scummy.

I'm more surprised some of those arguing didn't know the context, especially when this whole album is a retaliation. Em usually waits till someone says shit about him before he starts throwing it out.

Same here. I figured everyone knew why he was lashing out. It’s not like he was bashing him purely because he came out lmao
Y’all stupid
|

Yeah but it’s still a line dissing Tyler for being gay. Sure it’s a retaliation, if anything I thought it was a response to Tyler kinda copying his edgelord aesthetic for years. Still inexcusable, he’s really that butthurt Tyler said his song fucking sucks? Welcome to the internet, if ur song sucks ur gonna hear about it.
And I heard a lot of this is him calling people out for shitting on revival which is like uhhhhh
Picking at someone’s sexuality cuz they hate a song you made is sooooo petty

I'm not trying to stir the pot here, but I did read from an uncredible source on the internet that Tyler was saying all that as a publicity stunt for when his album came out. Anyone confirm or deny?

Yeah Em is super salty about Revival’s reception. He’s clueless to how fucking bad it was. There’s a line where he calls people mentally retarded and too stupid to “get it” (Revival)
Shits kinda funny but I fuck with his delivery on those lines hard so meh I just ignore the words
|
| |
Feels genuine to me. On potato salad which came out after the album he says something to the effect of “boys or girls these days don’t matter to me.” It’s weird but it like feels too wholesome to be a scam.

I’m usually only a fan of diss tracks when I can get behind the sentiment, if I can’t the rapper always just sounds like a douche to me idk
Like as an artist you should be more concerned with building ur own career instead of ruining someone else’s

Honestly, the "mentally retarded" line feels like one of the most forced to me. It's about the only one that takes me out of the track.
