Only prob with the new one is it isn't as filthy as their previous EP. I think rerecording the two tracks from that EP really changed how those tracks felt. They're not as filthy and cavernous, but the nicer sound does make the riffs bounce a little more, so it's a bit of give-and-take there. Woulda preferred max cavernous, but it's still a solid record.

Is the new one worth checking as someone who's fairly lukewarm to this? I remember enjoying their general sound (it packs a considerable punch after all), but I didn't really connect with the song-writing, not as much as I would've liked anyway.

Before we can answer: Do you recognize Gored Embrace as an awesome song?

That answer is essential to fairly enjoy Manor. From what I've heard new one is pretty different though.

I think it is a lot better. The riffs are stronger and they've definitely evolved.

Still to listen...but from what I've read is a completely different and "unmuffed" approach. I hope its as good has this...but I think its not really meant to be compared.

Hmm... sounds like it might be worth an attempt, I'm trying to cut down on mindlessly listening to numerous new releases, when I've got a historic backlog of monumental proportions.
Was contemplating that Disentomb release too, but considering I've listened to very little in the way of brutal death outside of Cryptopsy, Suffocation and Cannibal Corpse (with mixed results), perhaps this is the better idea.

the never-ending backlog would require the services of multiple sherpas to get through these days. I feel you mate.

That shiny glistening allure of a new release, it can be difficult to resist such temptations. The modern visibility of such things is both a blessing and a curse. I've discovered a lot, but sometimes you have to force yourself to be selective, at least to a point.

it's omnipresent choice fatigue at its worse. I find myself acting more and more like an old fart just going back to old music that's tried and true whenever that choice gets too tiring.

Besides, I had an "open eyes" when I read a stupid study that proved you stop listening to new music after 34. I said fuck you...and voilá...I let the blacklog came in lol

I actually think the opposite is true - although the sheer number of release will increase exponentially, the stuff that's visible and actually relevant to any one person could decrease in time. A 'must hear' new release in '19 may become just another album in a few years, whereas the historic classics will always be there. Listening to said classics therefore helps tackle the problem more efficiently. I could've got away with not listening to most of the stuff I did in '18, I might have missed out, but those releases won't seem important in a few years time.

The study fits you more then ahaha That said I get that view of modern ephemerality.
What I meant on the backlog always getting bigger, is that when you think you're are done with the past things, suddenly a whole new world opens for you to explore, constantly increasing your "to check list" of old stuff. Meaning - the past is bigger than you for you to embrace it all.
Back to this, if want to see these groovepunchy guys a little less muffed with a bit more shiny solos, go for the new one.

Might be of an OCD thing for me where I gotta listen to all the new releases I can in a given year. It's true though, most of what I hear sucks but that comes with the territory

I have that same thing but instead I try to avoid listening to as much as possible.
