I think someone on the site said this before, but if The Crusade was a Metallica album the rating would be much much higher.
Well, let's be honest. Metallica reviewers/fans/etc., don't take this personally, but Metallica is more or less a brandname now and there are a lot of people out there who will buy anything this band puts out and call it brilliant (St. Anger excluded).
To me, The Crusade was just bad. It was bland, uninspired, derivative, and tried way too hard to be something it shouldn't have been. Had Metallica put it out, I would say the exact same things.

I enjoy older Metallica but I wouldn't call everything the band put out brilliant, simply because it isn't. :/

I haven't heard anyone call Load/Reload brilliant in a loooonnngg time. In fact, never.

You both know what I'm getting at. You know the Trivium fans rabidly defending The Crusade, even going so far as to deny that it's unoriginal and derivative? If Metallica released it, those some types of fans would be saying the same stupid shit.
Stupidity is a many-headed beast like a hydra, but the heads are all identical, and all enjoy drinking mercury.

To be honest this album gets kind of boring, and the vocals aren't really impressive, but it can still be enjoyable and I really liked the guitar work and some of the drum riifs. Ride the Lighting owns this so very much.

This album is definitely sweet. The only song I don't think is that great is "Disposable Heroes".

I love DH, but I don't know why eveyones hatin on TTTSNB, I like the 'juicieness' of the guitar in drop D. It's a tie between the title track, DH, Battery, and Damage, Inc. Damage is awsome.

I think the only song I have a hard time listening to is Lepper Messiah. I have no idea why either.

Lepper Messiah is pretty cool. Definitely my least favorite off this, though.

^^Leper Messiah is kinda catchy, but it gets boring after a while.

The solo to Leper Messiah is one of my highlights of this album. Actually only because the sweeping adds a melodic and slightly chilling change of pace to the rest of the song.

Drunken Viking,
You obviously dont know what your talking about. Im not disagreeing with your rating, thats your opinion, but this album is so diverse in terms of guitaring and riffs. A well written review, but your biased opinion gets in the way. James Hetfield does have a terrible voice though.
QUOTED FOR TRUE
VERY WELL SAID THE WIZARD
