Yo guys, is this band worth giving a spin as a Deafheaven/post metal/post rock fan?

oh boy... maybe? But only to in the hopes of converting you to trve cascadian black metal. But if you really want to get a better idea of this band, check out Two Hunters first

I’d say just go in order considering the debut is their best and you’ll be able to hear how they progress.

I prefer this one over Two Hunters as well.

I think this band is very divisive what people might enjoy the most from them. For me 'Celestial Lineage' + 'Celestite' are my favourites; especially listening them together!

Two Hunters shits on this and everything that came after it, including The Black Cascade

Eh thats not how I see music, I do dig Black Cascade and Diadem more than TH tbh. Even though they're both more simplistic for sure.

But lets talk about how this one goes straight for the throat whilst keeping the magic, pretty excited about the next one they'll be doing if they can keep up the storytelling beats here.

i hope they fix the production bc this sounds very bad. Tinny guitar tone, rhythm guitar is slowed down in the back of the mix with no punch, synths do most of the heavy lifting for the chord changes. Give me back the guitar-oriented sound of their earlier stuff or else it's gonna be another bummer for me.

Most unlistenable vinyl I have. By a lot.

definitely agree that it's thin and dry. I don't often complain about production but this is jarringly punchless.
