This is hot garbage compared to El Cielo.

You know what I take that back about this being my AOTY, this comes 2nd, I would give that honor for Pallbearer's Heartless, which still may be a snoozefest to some of you.

My gut tells me this album is great so I'll go ahead and assume you all don't know what you're talking bout.

It's cool when I listen to it, but then it's over and I have no desire to jam it again. Besides Absolve for like 45 seconds.
Reminds me of the Primus album this year, in that way. Kind of interesting, doesn't suck out loud, but otherwise fails to leave an impression.

Exoplanet > Clairvoyant > Language. Haven't listened to the other one.

There's no way this tops Language but I'm sure it's good. Been sleeping on this.

Lets break this down
monochrome (passive): good intro
Godspeed: good song
reimagined: good song

relapse: good song

yap! Totally agree...I only dug this after a few listens...there are some good, lets call it mainstream, songs (ex: reimagined; return to the earth)...and a lot of room for experimentation in others (ex: clairvoyant; relapse). The only ways you rate this down is if you expect another Exoplanet or if you don't pay attention to it. This record is beautiful.

btw...for me this tops Language

I definitely paid attention and what I paid attention to was uninteresting. The reason why Exoplanet was successful was because of its unique mixture of genres, which no other band succeeded with. When they left that behind, they sacrificed their strongest traits and turned into some boring post, proggy rock/metal

My problem with this is that it is a good album. It just doesn't go anywhere or reach any climax. This is about his friend ODing on drugs for christ-sake. Show a little emotion.
