the problem is Merlyn showed us he could be thoughtful and well-spoken on MILK and then just completely abandoned that style of writing here. I still love his shit on SWEET especially but he could be so much more

i think he feels he needs to make up for lyrical shortcomings with energy. like on milk it makes sense for him to be vulnerable etc, but i guess on FOLLOW he doesn't have anything to say so he tries to combat that with "passion" or whatever. but the whole verse is horrible and makes me wince. same on FAKE. that hairtie line is just pure cringe. hair ties arent even tight wtf man.
HEAT and JUNKY and SWEET are where his yelling verses work imo. HEAT is just a perfect use of him.

to be fair FOLLOW is kind of a shit song in general, really not a good tease for Sat III imo
SWEET and SWAMP are probably my favourites - I LIKE WHITE COLLAR CRIME BITCH is a fucking amazing line - but I do wish he'd find a way to balance the energy-driven stuff with the emotional stuff as well as he does on JUNKY
