Instrumentation needs some more punch; plus can we just let Andy shine? He's the best thing about this band and always has been. Everything sounds lush and pretty, but I don't think it compliments the mood on most of these songs.

If they varied the production this could have been a lot better, imo.

Really hoping it grows on me, though. MO has been a favorite of mine for years, so I will give this plenty of time.

this sounds like they realized they screwed up for releasing all alt rock jams with Cope so they tried to make up for it by releasing a primarily ballad driven album.

I absolutely adore how well the songs transition into one another. Bout halfway through my first listen and I don't find any of the instrumentation boring.

yeah I'mma give this a 4 for now but I'm pretty sure it'll be a 4.5 with repeat listens, The Silence has me feeling all kinds of things and that was just while listening to it in the background at work

That trio of The Alien/Sunshine/Grocery really works together.

Also, The Parts might be one of my favorite songs they've ever done.

Haven't heard this yet, but want to believe this is actually good and not just the usual Sput overhyped 4.5 parade.

Will try to jam today.

I think the average will probably end up around 3.8 or 3.9 once the wave of counter-hype comes in.

@Lucid Yeah, I'm hoping that's not the case, but we'll see. I liked their first two albums, but they've never made anything mind-blowing imo. It's usually been pretty textbook indie rock in the past.

The people saying this is their best have at least intrigued me though.

Finally getting to hear this today, I need more time with it, but I'm sitting at a 4.2 after the initial listen and it seems like it could be a grower !
