Haven't listened yet, but great review. Liked this line a lot-

"The stress fractures present on that album have split open into grand ravines, exposing a beautifully entropic landscape of swirling oceans, storm-ridden skies, and golden horizons."

This hasn't hit yet for me. Disappointing so far considering HB is possibly my favourite album from the decade

It's a lot more obtuse than HB, that's for sure. Definitely an album that takes a while to sink in.

I don't see how you can love Helplessness Blues and not this, at least not after you've given it a proper few listens.

Have to agree with Gyro but some very good moments save it from being bad

Returning to this after a week off...incredible. Really helped it to put in those hooks taking a break from it. Instead of searching for hooks you recognise most every vocal is a hook of its own, one of those albums.

So obviously their best I now can't believe I ever questioned it. Close to a 4.5.

It's still weaving it's magic and I'm noticing things more and more with this than any of my other faves.

This, slowdive, Aimee Mann, Klute and Talaboman are top of the pile so far.

Not sure how high the Aimee Mann will climb, need to pick up a copy of it but that's probably up there. Slowdive is close.

Fags After Shags still the one to beat for me.
