Look the recent comments of anthony fantano's review of this album, the people is basiclly accusing him of chester's suicide

those are trolls

In hindsight looking at how angry Chester got over the reaction shows that he's been going through a bad time for a while. The second M2M came out LP has been called sell outs nonstop and they never really cared up till that point.

Tbh without counting chester's meltdown they handle the critics in very professional way, they just explained why the change of sound and after that they continue to do their own business

listening to this album again and it pretty clear a lot of this reads like a suicide note. and the pop feel gives this almost a sense of finality.
RIP.

the last news articles I remember reading about Chester were him saying that fans should let Hybrid Theory go because he's not an angsty 20-something screaming about his pain anymore. but obviously he kept a lot of things buried. I just wish he had used LP as a better outlet for his demons because this album feels hollow and conveys nothing real imo

Sometimes deep emotions make for good albums, sometimes they cloud your creative vision and make them shittier. Just look at Into Eternity's "The Incurable Tragedy". Inspired by the deaths of 3 people close to the lyricist, but plain bad compared to the rest of their discog, and so depressing (not in a good way) that it's impossible to listen all the way through without getting glum.

It's not so much about emotions being deep as properly getting them out. interesting comparison though, I stopped listening to Into Eternity during that album too.

Tbh the idea that the critics caused the suicide of chester is actually silly, LP has always dealt with a vast amount of detractors since HT, maybe the band needed a rest and to clarify all the things before making another album and starting another tour.

not sure who is perpetuating that idea but yeah its really stupid

Stupid people on youtube, look fantano's review of one more light, melon head is even receiving death threats
|
| |
ehh scapegoat mentality + youtube. not surprising really, it'll blow over once people realize they're dumb
|
| |
Shame he had to end on this turd..
|

I'll always have A Thousand Suns to bang out though. Hard fucking RIP

Dude, critics will be blamed for a long long time. Critics killed chester will be like papparazis killed princess Diana or Corutney Love Killed Kurt Cobain
|
| |
Tbf papparazis did kinda kill Diana
|

For me the legendy LP albums will be the hunting party, hybrid theory and meteora. In fact the hunting party had the concept of ATS, better lyrics, more intensity and really solid hard rock and alt metal instrumentation. A line in the sand shits and rapes ATS

the band's albums haven't been received well in a very long time, and the fans responded even more poorly to some of them than the critics did. If Chester wanted to be liked so much he would have just given everyone what they wanted. why must there always be a scapegoat
|
| |
Stop it with this "it was the backlash that killed him" nonsense. This was a man with a number of extremely heavy personal demons, who was abused as a child and fought depression, drugs and alcohol for most of his life. We can't ignore this.

Well, the issue is that LP fanbase is diverse as hell, sure the vocal opinion was the one expossed by old school LP fans who wanted hybrid theory pt 3 but still plenty of people liked the post meteora albums including me and until one more light the comments were still mostly positive and the concerts in big venues were full even during the OML era
