horrible album
i hate to say it but judging by this album, it sounds like they've run out of ideas.
i have only one kudo for this album, and that is the fact that its loud, its agressive, and there's energy.

The major thing that pisses me off about this album, aside from the fact that it's terrible, is Lar's drum tones. They're very annoying and weak sounding.

For every one who is ****off bout the drumming think bout this... if u were lars wouldn't u just wanna go as hard as u can if u were in anger and playing bout your past??
and for hetfields lyrics, most of them are bout alchohol(james went to rehab in the middle of filming and recording of st.anger...
for the solo's think bout all the small solo's like in some kind of monster and dirty window, the little high riffs in the bacround...
EVERY SINGLE metallica memeber (maybe exept lars.. has helped with the lyrics; ex:life is pain birth is pain it's all the same..was kirks one of many additions to the lyrics)...
Rob never cam in the band till the finish of it or last bit of recording...
I think the only problem i had was the copy and paste stuff

for everyone still not believing me and thnking wat im saying is a pile of crap...WATCH THE MOVIE/ DOCUMENTARY tittled: Some Kind Of Monster

This movie explains alot of the reasons for the cd

I'm sure it does. I dunno about others, I wasn't bashing the drumming tho. I just said the tones sound weak. Lars is one of my favorite drummers.

This might come across as ignorant, but I don't mean it too. But I feel that bands that clean up, tend to not be as good as they were when they were users/alcoholics. I find that alcoholism is a very poetic disease. This Message Edited On 01.27.06

If Metallica has another studio recording, it wont be very good, not much better than this. Now that they have families and now that they have to actually take care of themselves and set moral examples (to some extent) for their kids, they cant just spend the night together drinking and drugging up making up nice guitar riffs and awesome deathly lyrics like they used to. It would be nice, but its not happening

getting drunk and druggin up isn't always the best metal... if they do make another album it coould show us a whole metallica..who cares what the fans think is what i would htink if i were in metallica...it's all bout the music and emotions..this next album could be there last if it's this already isn't..This Message Edited On 01.29.06

but metallica never did drugs, they where drunks, but they never did drugs, maybe if someone did drugs it was cliff, but neither kirk, james or lars did drugs

Drugs was one of the reason's Mustaine was kicked out (or so I'm told). And Hetfield was in rehab for, if I remember correctly, alcohol and other addictions. Other addictions more often than not mean Cocaine or Narcotics in some form or another.

This is merely me speculating. I'm not saying he did, but there's the possibility.

And you're right, it is all about the music and emotions. And drugs tend to bring out some pretty intense emotions (alcohol included). Not to say good music can't be made while clean. Indeed, it usually is.This Message Edited On 02.01.06

the more i listen to and justice for all and st. anger the more similar they seem...kiss my ass if you don't understand why...

look st. anger is pretty much trying to start the process over while also going back to a more garage/jam session feel. they wanted to rip out all of the flash and studio tricks of the past. all of james voice problems we're always there they just we're masked by vocal manipulation and other things. lars has always been a little off beat and timing. the lyrics aren't trying to be classic. they are stright from the brain to paper. it's a band showing the bullshit that most people try to hide...now those things are just up front and made for you to have to swallow...bitter isn't it?

i don't like st. anger everytime i listen to it. but i love the bashing your head in grating sound that just screams that they don't really give a fuck anymore. i know it's not going to be always like that, the sound will change and another direction will be taken. but you have to admit this flys against the over-produced albums that are killing all music right now, including metal.

it's not a masterpiece...get over it.

That's all fine and dandy, except for the fact that it all sounds like shit. Drums, guitars, vocals, lyrics, it's all crappilly done.

AHHH stop saying st. anger sux. Go buy fuckin britney spears you metallica dissing freaks.
ok, now that said, i love st. anger, and i love MetallicA for making st. anger. Yes, ok there are no guitar solos, recording is badly done, songs are repetitive blah bla blah... but can u reeli bang your head to music that is computerised? bands like linkin park, limp bizkit, nine inch nails, thats not Real music, thats computer generated music, stuff that i am personly sick of hearing. They make a mistake while recording and its 'ohh no, i made a mistake, i'll just pull out my handy dandy computer out of my unmusical ass and fix it up'.
As for MetallicA, they made st. anger like it was recorded in the 80's. It's RAW. It's AGGRESSIVE. It's METALLICA. they make there mistakes, (btw u can hear many mistakes in call of ktulu, but i dont hear anyone knocking that coz its a bloody briliant song) for example: in the intro to Some Kind Of Monster u can hear the snare drum buzzing in the background, BUT, that is an incredible build up to this mind blowing yet simple riff.
st. anger is a real 'heavy metal head bangers dream' that relives the 80's. and have u noticed that st. anger is probly the most like kill em all out of all of there other albums? and as for kirk, he was sleeping while recording this album, he should be awake for the next one
well, now that is said u can bitch about st. anger all u want, ur just denying the fact that this is a fuckin incredible album. and if u continue to bitch give me ur address and i'll buy and send u 'simple plan' so u can cry to its pansy emo music :p

Bass Queen's got it in one there.
St Anger (hereafter referred to as 'stanger', as in, 'this album makes me stangry'), is the utter crapness.
Why? Well.
Bad production. Uninspired songwriting. Tedious, repetitive riffs. A reliance on overlong, ponderous, distended song structures that go nowhere.
Don't get me wrong, I love long songs, but they have to have a sense of direction. These just piss around.
Here's a story that shows the true danger of this album: seeing metallica live three years ago, the audience was divided into two parts. People my age or older (I was 20 at the time), who cheered like crazy when the band ripped on the likes of Master Of Puppets or Blackened, and people aged 17 or under, who had never even heard of Master Of Puppets or Blackened, and who thought stanger was 'brutal, a fucking great metal song that's just AWESOME!'
I rest my case. Meeting adjourned. Pub time. This Message Edited On 03.15.06

i see where you are coming at, that doesnt mean i agree with you but i understand what you mean.
But honestly you cant expect a band thats been around since 81 to still be making the same kind of music. They have money, fans, everything they need, so what they're doing now is just experimental. They could have retired after reload but they chose to continue, and for that i'm proud of them. They are saving us from shitehouse bands like Limp Bizkit and Slipknot
And as for the divided into two sides concert thingy, i'm 15 ...and justice for all is my fav album, reload is my worst album and i love kill em all, rtl and mop to death so ha.
