I’ll probably review a new album I get obsessed over - like the Paddy Hanna, John Callahan or the Eleanor Friedberger this year. Pretty likely I’ll review the new Lambchop.
I guess for now I’ve chosen exploration above writing when it comes to music - I feel I might only have a limited time to keep exploring at this rate and it’s proving so rewarding.
To review you need to listen to something 10 or 12 times really - I’m just not feeling that intensity to sit and listen to something three times through in a row right now.
I do have the ‘mini review’ list on RYM linked to my LastFM listening - right now that’s the level I’m at. Might change. I did find I was starting to repeat myself a bit in the longer reviews here, a lot of my best ideas/angles I’d worked before :/

I can’t wait to put up a track by track killjoy special at some point too, was tempted for the 1975 album, just didn’t annoy me quite enough.

Also, my decade list exists on RYM already (ok, it’s not entirely up to date but it’s close)
I'd like to think 5-10 2019 releases would join the top 100 and then hopefully I dig up another 5-15 I missed for the other years of the '10s.
Currently I have 66 4.5+ rated albums for this decade...for the '90s that stands at 125 4.5+ ratings. There won't be 125 4.5+ albums this decade but I'd like to think eventually I'll find a hundred albums I like that much from the '10s.

The top 50 or so of the decade will be easy enough (that's just my 5s and 4.5s), it'll be 51-100 that's tough.
I'm realizing too that I should probably start identifying major albums of the decade that I've missed very soon - if I spend the last month of a given year doing review then in theory I should be spending most of 2019 doing the same. :-/ Probably I won't though, will just stick with what I have for the most part. Be a more personal list that way. ;-P
Gotta start writing those blurbs though.

I have a first draft of my decade list ready to go, waiting for the year to turnover to post and request recs
I look forward to revisiting my decade favs and pulling out of the 2019 race

Good point, I will start getting some write-ups ready for my decade list - people will release this time next year you know it.
So best of 2019 lists in November it is.

Ideally we should be patient and post in early 2020. I don't feel comfortable ranking Fall 2019 albums when they haven't had time to prove their worth.

Actually a quick scour of the top several hundred on the RYM 2010s decade chart has me feeling better than I thought - only identified about 30 "I really should have heard this album by now". Probably there are some more obscure gems I'll miss but I can live with that - I kinda wanted to spend more time in 2019 going though the farther past anyways.

Luci the thing is though the decade will be 97% through by fall so realistically there shouldn't be more than 2-3 fall 2019 albums on anyone's top 100 list, so really you're not missing much if you post in November/December.

I did a '10s trawl on the RYM decade chart and there was practically nothing I was interested in (thanks to Luci for the Women shout though, that's a big one I'd missed).
Think it's hidden gems all the way really, discog drilling for artists you only tried one album from because you're now listening to way more music than you were when they released their first album back in 2012 (but that album just might be better...)

I mean I guess in theory if you’ve been doing a good job of each year as it passed there shouldn’t be much work - my issue is I didn’t really start actively following new releases in general till around 2015 so I am missing some big ones from the first half of the decade.

We arrived at the same time so I have the same issue, music before then for me was trying out one new album a week.

Tickets for the show in April secured!
Funny thing, the gig is the same day we get home from my Easter hols in Lanzarote so the wife was not too happy...but she keeps bringing up this '40 for 40' concept to mark my 'big' birthday where i have to find forty things to do a little bit 'out there' or different to usual (steady! not what you're all thinking dirty fvckers) so I just said 'I want to do this as one of my 40 for 40 picks' and I saw her face drop as she realised the power she's afforded me :D
2019 is going to be a good year, poor missus getting dragged to some hovel in Hackney 15 hours after flying home to watch a very very strange performance by my beloved 'chop no doubt - bless this woman, lol

This will be my most chin stroke-y gig since Tindersticks at the Barbican...which had an intermission. It was packed with theatre sorts too.
It was also an incredible show and did suit the band at this stage of their career, they're classy buggers
Lambchop are arty oddballs so not too surprised at the venue. Maybe like all yanks they'll head straight to Nandos, there's one opposite the venue.
