Hopefully I'm not the only one that notices, but Jens' vocals sound exhausted on this.

Hell yeah m/

Beefshoes I thought so after Born in Dissonance where he falters a couple of times, other than that I didn't notice it throughout the rest of the album, just sound less robotic and produced than normal.

He sounds just like he does live. It's a lot more raw than Koloss, that's for sure.

Holy shit, this just beat out obZen for me.

Goddamn. Second favorite Meshuggah. Let's see if it beats out Catch over time (unlikely)

funny that the summaries for the 2 reviews have almost completely opposite statements:

"most inspired collection of songs in a decade" vs. "inspiration falters"

then again, for a band that releases same-ish stuff over and over, something that has 1% more innovation than normal could be considered the "most inspired" so maybe both can be kinda right

Yeah, inspiration is definitely there, dude. The more I listen to this the more obvious that is.

I don't enjoy them 100% of the time either, seems like I have to be in the mood. But when I am, I jam pretty hard.

ya it just gets old really quickly. I have I, Nothing, Obzen, Koloss, and Catch Thirty-three and I is really the only one I've felt compelled to listen to more than a couple times. Haake is a beast, but the rest feels like a really narrow sonic palette.

Well obZen and Koloss suck so I feel you there.

This and Chaosphere are my favs, but DEI, Nothing, and Catch33 all rule too.
