"'5-10 listens before I get peak enjoyment' - if it's an album i'm thinking of 5'ing 48 hours and I'll usually have managed that many spins already"
most of my 5s i found super boring at first tho. and the albums I really dig at first often wear off relatively quickly

True in some cases, 'Garden of Delete' last year I was ready to discard at first, there was a tiny bit of intrigue there though - 50 plays later I 5'd it and it became my only 5 and AOTY 2015 for me
'Kaputt' by Destroyer it took two years before I realised it was one of my favourite albums of all time, that's an album I've probably spun well over a hundred times now.
'Is a Woman' by Lambchop I'd dismissed as average ten years previously then relistened this year and ended up 5'ing it after a month of near constant listening.
Others I just know instantly are great though and they seem to stick, 'Boxer' by The National was one that blew me away instantly and is still one I consider a classic to this day. The Sunhouse and Thomas Feiner albums I started listening to this year were both near insta 5's and there's no way either of those is getting downgraded.

I 5'd three albums last year and only the one 5 stuck into 2016 so I guess maybe I should control myself better

Getting deja vu from the early days of Terminal Redux having that 4.6 before users who hate metal started rating it lowly

Anyone who tries to spite lower that average rating on this one is a soulless shell. They are living as ones already dead.

Like having listened a couple more times I could maybe see myself bumping this to a 3.5 because it is definitely well constructed but I just have very little desire to return to this. I'd say that maybe it's just a grower but it seems to have struck everybody else immediately.

"I'm very intrigued. never heard any of their previous work, this a good place to jump in? or should I check out earlier work first?"
This was my first, so jump right in and grab the tissues while you're at it.
