Trying too hard visuals? That was a beautifully shot film! Seriously wtf are you talking about? I think you're actually trying too hard to hate it. It's not a flawless movie by any means, but come on dude, trying too visuals is seriously a stretch.

I thought the visuals were fantastic. Nothing looked bad, really.

They weren't bad per se but a couple of times for me it felt like one giant set.

The visuals were the least problematic thing imo. Also while TFA might arguably be an ok standalone movie, we can't just ignore the fact that its part of the saga and a huge rip-off. And the movie it rips-off doesn't even hold well to today's standards, so no excuses really.

K man. I'm not sure which one of my opinions offended you though. And by opinions I of course mean the reality of the situation.

How does the story of A New Hope not hold up to today's standards when the character archetypes and the Heroes Journey mold that A New Hope utilizes have been used since the beginning of time and are still very very very much in use today?

And imo A New Hope is one of (if not the) most visually stunning movies I've ever seen and still looks better visually then 95% of movies being made today.

Literally nothing about that sentence that I quoted in my last comment makes any sort of sense. A New Hope (and Empire) are probably the only non TFA Star Wars films that still live up to today's standards.

the visuals in the old star wars films were incredible, and the very minimal touch ups lucas made like fixing the lighting of the sabers before going CGI crazy only further propelled them into a timeless look.

There is no doubt that A New Hope can still be enjoyed today and it honestly l does hold up well considering its age, so calling it outdated might have been a bit too much.

My main gripe is with TFA and the "First Order" being offered as the new token "bad guys" out of nowhere, similarly to how the Empire was introduced in a New Hope without much explanation. In A New Hope it obviously wasn't that big of a deal, but it's pretty damn stupid in TFA. And we are offered almost the same exact story, which while not being bad, has always been very simplistic and not very original, at least for the individual movie.

I just watched A New Hope for the 1000th time again cuz why the fuck not. Man if this isn't one of the greatest movies ever idk tbh. Last year, only 1 person in my class ( 1 person mind you) had watched ANY Star Wars. Like what the fuck are the other 29 people doing with their lives. Once my kid is old enough I'm gonna blast Star wars with him all day long.

BTW Episode 7 still blows.

Nah it was OK. Rogue One's gonna be so good, too.

I can live with OK but when some people put it in front of ROTJ or ANH it kinda pisses me off.

Yeah well, we'll see about rogue one.

I just really, really hope they don't milk the franchise to death to the point where it isn't special anymore.

I mean look at the Han Solo standalone movie. Who asked for it ? No one. Who can fill Harrison Ford's shoes ? No one. I think it's going to fail hard.

I think they should put out the Boba Fett movie first tbh, would be more interested in seeing them make him a bit of a deeper character. Maybe they could bring back Mace Windu somehow just so Boba could get his revenge, and maybe even make Windu a deeper character too.

I can see the Han Solo/Boba Fett movies being better then the sequel trilogy if they are done right.

But how can the Han Solo one be done right ? You've seen the actor that is supposed to play Han right ? He looks nothing like him, plus he looks in his late 20's and the character can't logically change his face so much for 4-5 years. I just don't think I'll be able to suspend my disbelief.

Yeah you're right, dude doesn't seem to have enough grit or manliness to him, and he doesn't look like a guy who would shoot first, and if he did it would come off more like a bitch move instead of being bad ass.

So I just found this video, and it's quite frankly the best analysis on the Force Awakens that I have found. I really urge any fan to watch this from start to finish, because this guy really knows his stuff and is absolutely right.
