Judging by Tom's new EP and The Dream Walker, I'd say he's better off without Blink. I'm enjoying his new stuff far more than this.

Are AVA actually good lol I've literally never listened to them.

I don't really care for their early stuff. But I highly recommend The Dream Walker and the Chasing Shadows EP. He's starting to delve into 90's power pop and it suits him quite well.

Not really imo. But musically there is a lot more going on.

Yeah I guess i'm lying when I say literally never listened to them. Heard some of their early stuff and it seemed like Tom was trying really hard to be all arty and stuff.

Just listen to Overload or Voyager. Particularly Overload. It's not Blink, but it's the closest thing you're gonna get to it.

Ilan Rubin has done wonders for Tom. He sort of helped Tom shed out of that original AVA skin that I didn't like too much. No more corny lyrics or ridiculously reverbed guitar riffs.

Oh god, I seen the Youtube comments. Seriously there's people comparing this album to TOYPAJ. *blows brains out*

i agree with MrGarland on this. I went to listen to AVA's new EP with low expectations after their ..Of Nightmares and ended up being quite surprised. I do think that Ilan Rubin has helped Tom out and i really like each of the songs on Chasing Shadows. Overload is brilliant! Each to their own though.

Technically, "The Only Thing that Matters" is Don't Leave Me + Shut Up mixed together, so people are half correct.

And the format is similar to the one on TOYPAJ with silly tracks here and there. Simply poorly executed since half of blink is gone.

This is probably the worst album I've given any length of my time to this year.

I enjoy this quite a bit.

It's a fun record, they'll never have the star power they had in late 90's/early 00's when they were literally the face of mainstream rock music and while the music has definitely slipped I enjoyed this.

"You'd be wrong to ever mention that song title ever again."
it's honestly one of the only songs off here that I thoroughly enjoyed :/

I made an account just to ask Mr.Garland, do you really think this is worse than Tom Delonge's Demos Odds and Ends? you gave that a higher score than this. with tracks such as "golden showers" and the odd music video where he's just walking around with a guitar and eating fast food on the sidewalk, I don't see how that was better than this album. it makes no sense to me.
edit: I also wanted to add, at least this is a fun album. Tom's demos odds and ends is just boring and doesn't flow well. and I can't tell if it wants to be serious or just fun because it could sound like both, but who knows.

Man you people don't know how to have do you
My only complaint right now with this thing is some of the lyrics, and I blame Feldmann on that end for making them speed-write
This album's fun, and if anything I'm happy that blink doesn't sound like total shit when playing live now. I don't need all my music to be some deep or insightful shit, this is a record meant for radio play and I'm fine with that

" I don't need all my music to be some deep or insightful shit, this is a record meant for radio play and I'm fine with that"
why do people like u always assume all the criticism anyone has for records like these stem from them being "not deep enough or "insightful enough" when in reality its because they are shit and no one is having any fun with them. Blink 182 are the one band that always tried to have fun. such bad arguments.

He's right though, I went into this album expecting Trout Mask Replica, as I do with every pop punk album I listen to
|
| |
you jest, but I personally expect all my pop punk albums to have very retrospective and personal lyrics like The Wonder Years.
