My big problem with this album is the songs are never long enough, after each song is over I just end up disappointed that it ended so soon

Prog and more recent psych rock has spoiled me

It's a 4 to me, but I gave it a 0.5 higher cause of Brian Wilson. The guy has been through so much shit in his life and every time I watch a video of him, I see an honest person filled with positivity, smiling and talking sincerely. And the most important, he seems a very down to earth guy. You don't see that too often in the music industry, most of the douchebags out there talk like they're some kind of geniuses just because they've written a three chord song.

Simply put, Wilson is the nicest guy in this business.

Amazing what happens when your band has essentially the only person in rock music at the time who knew a lick of jazz theory

I don't think it could have worked any other way. He was the coordinator and the others followed him silently. If there was one more guy with knowledge, he would step on and that could result in an ego-war.

It kinda did devolve into an ego war though. Mike love thought he was a musical genius and Brian just wanted to make music he'd listen to. Recipe for disaster.

Wouldn't It Be Nice is an incredible album opener and it is followed by another masterpiece in You Still Believe In Me. The ending of the latter is breathtaking

Considering I find the most well-known cuts from this grating, to the point they could be utilised for torture, this 2.5 is a minor miracle.

Album is about the deeper cuts for me, rather than the hits
