Gyro
- the t/t is awesome' like an update of the opening t/t on Station to Station, an instant classic as far as I'm concerned
- Lazarus isn't quite as good but it's the heart of the album, plays like a moodier Slow Burn
- Dollar Days is an all time great Bowie ballad loaded with poignancy, another worthy of Station to Station
- I Can't Give Everything Away, love how the previous tune segues into it, it's a classic self reverential Dave album closer in the grand tradition (Rock n Roll Suicide, Bewlay Brothers, etc)
The Next Day is great but the best stuff on that isn't at that level, You Feel So Lonely and If You Can See Me are probably my favourites from it. That albums strength is in variety, like a Bowie mixtape

the title track is one of the shittiest songs i've heard in months. his voice is annoying as fuck in it. i'd much rather listen to scott walker tbh. lazarus is pretty decent, dollar days is nice but really nothing special tbh, and after everything i heard about the closer i was expecting much more but it's pretty w/e

I haven't checked all your Bowie ratings so don't know exactly where you're coming from
Station to Station, Low and Outside are the Bowie styles I most enjoy so this is hitting the spot for me

am i seriously the only person on this planet who thinks the t/t is garbage?

Haven't heard but it very well might be

Listening now, I like it tbh though the vocals aren't great

I re-listened and now I'm feeling Lazarus more. t/t is not good but it just "sticks in my head" more than other tracks. could be power of suggestion from the music video

I feel like if Thom Yorke were singing it would be really good lmao

yeah lazarus is one of the only songs on here i enjoy

Dunno, everyone has a Bowie where they don't get the hype
For me it's Heroes - other than the t/t it's pretty scrappy and unlike Low the instrumentals do nothing for me

i remember feeling that way about heroes for years, and then one day i put it on and something had changed. i'd like to say maybe the same will happen with this one, but i sincerely doubt it

Sons of the Silent Age is my second favourite off it lol and I only half like that

Gotta disagree about Heroes. His BT albums are classics. If anything out of his 70's stuff Id say for surely the disjointed Diamond Dogs was his weakest album, maybe young americans say more so, DD did have some good tracks at times
anyways I can't see how anyone can rate this lower that a 3.5 tbh, I loved Next Day too but this album Easily Blows it away, much more interesting stuff.
Kinda reminds me of a Hybrid between BT-WN and Outside with its electro-jazz mix, where as Next Day felt like Heathan for me, solid song writing but its just him playing his average rock strengths rather than pushing his style into different areas

Yeah 3.5-4.0 territory makes the most sense. Plenty of flaws, but way more good than bad.
