Personally can't find the same emotion in tracks past the first. While each track carries a different theme, the other tracks don't seem to do justice the magic of track one. But brilliant review. This is the kind of review Sputnik needs more of; objectivity infused with the artist's intentions

Review is still decent. Album is still one of the most trite pieces of music I've heard in a few years.

The fact that this is pretty popular, while the new Jaga Jazzist flew completley under the radar on here speaks volumes.

Or maybe this is just really good despite the fact that you don't like it...

Hey if every album affected everyone the same way there would only be one album lol

We both got Symbolic at a 4.5. There's always something to agree on :]

Gyro had that at a 3 for years. Guess that's an indicator that he could consider this a classic one day :p

lol i suppose it is, ali. because yeah tbh i didn't like symbolic for like 3 years straight and would often call it one of the most overrated albums ever but here we are

Derivative of a common sentiment, yeah I suppose.

no derivative in a sense that I couldn't hear anything fresh at all in this album. Now that isn't necessarily a bad thing, but I didn't think that the execution of the already pretty standard stuff was anything to write home about either.

The first song for example sounds so much like a slightly slowed down Explosions in the Sky song. But I won't argue further since you seem to take everything very personal when it comes to this album although I explicitly said that your review is fine even though I disagree.

Again, I just get confused and annoyed when people spend as much time as you are talking about something they don't like. I can only assume it's because of the high average, if this was sitting at a 3.2 you probably wouldn't be here.

If you read the review I actually acknowledge the fact that musically there is nothing to write home about. I agree with you. There's emotional content here that not everyone will identify with. Simple as that. I keep checking this thread cause I love this album and I WANT to talk about it. You gave it a 2 and said your piece. Why you are still wanting to talk about it I don't understand. Again, the high average must bother you, you know, personally.

review is just fine.

he likes it and we don't, it's really not a big deal. i'm blown away that people actually enjoy it this much but to each their own.

I think the concept is cool. Like the great achievements and failures throughout human history, but I don't feel like the music backs it up at all or that it really even spends that much time fleshing it out. The spoken word piece about dreams and how they relate to space is really cool, but I'm also pretty sure that it's just a sample, so I can't give the band much credit for using it. I would like to know what it's from originally though.

I tell you in the review. It is just a sample.

And what you guys just said makes perfect sense. I have nothing to say to that except :[

When I think about it, I should have been expecting this more. If the emotional content doesn't grab you or you just don't feel like it's there, there really isn't much else here to talk about.

Well, I wanted to also point out that I did think there was some potential for this to be cool instead of just saying it sucks. I admit I did not read the review, but I may do so in just one second.

I don't blame you for not reading it, it's like stupidly huge lol. They really put a lot of thought into this though. So if it doesn't translate for you I get it, but it is there. The thoughtfulness I mean, he emotional content is completely subjective.
