It's the best one to study to at least as I learnt today, album rules.

No way

Yes way. It's much better structured; Allelujah is probably slightly better though.

After 5 listens, it strikes me, as others have mentioned, as being similar to Allelujah in structure (substance-drone-drone-substance), but with shorter 1st and 4th tracks. Allelujah's stellar 1st track is far superior to Asunder's 1st track, and 4th track is about equal imo. I thus find it puzzling that people would prefer this over Allelujah. Overall this is easily my least favorite GY!BE album (still good though).

Btw I used earphones (will try headphones) and I'm aware that 5 listens isn't quite enough to reliably express my evaluation of this.

5 listens is plenty, dude

Maybe it is... I gotta say that I'm a bit rattled that the 1st track sounds very similar to Carnivale's theme song (good TV show btw).
I'll add that the lack of love for Yanqui here is shocking to me. Granted, the usual suspects form the top 3, but Yanqui is right behind, followed closely by Alleujah. Imo all their albums are in the 4.0-4.5 range, except Asunder.
