yes, because mainstream means a lot like other popular artists
that doesn't make it bad, i think it's a great album but that doesn't mean i love the direction they've chosen personally

We Were Dead was more accessible, but didn't necessarily conform to mainstream ideals. Maybe I could have worded that better. Either way, it's the most enjoyable of their post-Antarctica records if you ask me.

Half of We Were Dead is enjoyable pop hits and half weird songs, some of which are pretty annoying. It's probably their weakest for me, despite having one of their best songs Spitting Venom and enjoying most of it.

Quick thoughts:
Pistol is the worst Modest Mouse song ever.
The Ground Walks sounds like a prior Modest Mouse song, but I can't put my finger on it.
This is a solid album, definitely not anywhere near their best, or above average.
Disappointed that no songs show any sign of 'adventure,' other than Pistol and that song blows.
