I'm not denying that nostalgia plays a factor but it's not like these weren't known to be incredibly high quality records back then either. I'm hard pressed to come up with a lot of contenders for 2011-15 for albums that even come close to having the potential to developing that type of mythos around them. A lot of it can be attributed to the fact that most subgenres of metal are mature entities at this point with more iterative than transformative steps being taken.
