So when are we changing the names of all the bm/dm/thrash/punk bands that are named in reference to WW1, WW2 and various modern european wars?

But seriously though the fact that they had to face controversy with VC and change the band name seems wholly unfair because I'm pretty sure if the US had won that war then there wouldn't have been threats. VC standed for a force that, despite the odds, actually halted and defeated an empire blatantly intervening/invading its territory for the sake of the domination of said empire's vision of the world.
It was an interestingly controversial band name and anti-american in the sense that it affirmed, in the abstract, resistance as well as victory against the forces that try (unjustifyingly so) to intervene and dominate your way of living and seing.

The fact that they had to drop that name does seem like a true defeat when you think of it. I'm french so I can't act like I know the pain of loosing said war (although Algeria is still very touchy). But from an outsider's perspective, as heroic and defensive america wants to be with it's ex nam veterants, they never had a reason to be there in the first place and it's a good thing that america's was defeated. It's a good thing that a band would dare such a name, and it's truly shitty that they had to change it imo

Viet Cong is a dope name. I wouldn't give a fuck about outside pressures to change the name. Who is really offended by this? Black Pussy kept their name and I don't hear any more about boycotts at all.

tl;dr fuck indeed the name change, they accepted the vision of others to dominate theirs wich is what the original name went against, even unintentionally

Agent Orange should probably change their name even if they aren't together anymore (fuck if I know) because it affects.... some people.

I feel conflicted about the Dead Kennedys. Ca we rename them the Alive Kennedys or, at the very least, the Injured Kennedys plz?
