Well, if her "thing" is rapping I then can't see it anywhere. If "Anaconda" or any other of her songs (I did listened to this unfortunately) are milestones of rap then I'm reminded why often stay away from modern hip hop.

Someone can bring me up to speed if I've missed something, but I'm pretty sure that no one here is claiming that anything here represents a milestone in modern hip hop. A high rating isn't emblematic of a product breaking new ground, it can simply be the result of the person in question believing that the album in question did as advertised - in that it was a great and enjoyable pop/hip hop album - and that it was done well.

The absurdity in this thread is at a level I haven't seen in almost 2 whole weeks (!). So a couple of kids are complaining about censorship, well congrats dipshits, your comments were off topic and not representative of the kinds of remarks we want to see here

"Obviously, Minaj can rap with the best of them"

Stopped reading there. I wish I knew how to say No in thirty different languages.

In at least thirty of them, it's just "no".

Actually it does. Any 4+ rating from a STAFF MEMBER can easily be misinterpreted of excellent quality as it implies, which also can stand on its own when compared to other performers of the same genre. This is not the case with Nicki Minaj of course.

lol actually I almost stopped here: "She’s brash, arrogant, and vicious (the Nicki we know and love) about as often as she’s morose and introspective (the Nicki we don’t)."

The whole review is an cognitive bias parade, this whole thing is just utterly ridiculous.

No it doesn't, and when you use the word misinterpreted you completely undo every thing you've spent the last 4-5 pages arguing. And fuck off with your "off course", because clearly in this situation that's not the case. The reviewer clearly disagrees with you so again your "of course" is lacking any kind of justification. You can disagree with him all you want, but at no point are you ever going to be able to pull off the impressive feat of making me believe that your opinion is any more valid than his

@deviant misinterpret =/= misrepresent

I don't care if you end up agreeing or not, or if anyone else does. I was having a discussion with someone else which until this point was pretty much OK. If you enjoy censoring users, then censor yourself. Otherwise, you fuck off.

misinterpret =/= misrepresent

- well, that changes nothing. key word: interpret. this is how the reviewer interpreted the album. NOT Nicki Minaj's stigma, NOT whether or not she has a degree is musical theory. he interpreted the sounds that entered his ears, enjoyed them a lot, and gave an honest review.

" "Are they not? Can you not objectively say that William Faulkner's writing is better than JK Rowlings'?"

-can you? (you were already asked this btw, you still haven't replied) "

I could say I prefer JK Rowlings. I could not say she is a better writer than William Faulkner because any attempt to back that up without using my only my personal preference would be a complete failure. I have said this many times already and I cannot see what your point is.

You can appreciate whoever artist you want. I sometimes listen to Disturbed, they are a "guilty pleasure" of mine. However, I know they're nothing special. Their music doesn't even come close to the quality of other metal bandsI listen to. And please don't ask me "why does it not?" because if you do I will start to doubt my sanity.

"Nicki Minaj is proficient at her craft. Her craft is rapping."

Really?? I'll just leave some of her lyrical proficiency here:

"So I pulled up in the Jag, Mayweather with the jab like
Dun-d-d-dun-dun-d-d-dun-dun

My anaconda don't, my anaconda don't
My anaconda don't want none unless you got buns, hun

Oh my gosh, look at her butt
Oh my gosh, look at her butt
Oh my gosh, look at her butt
(Look at her butt)
Look at, look at, look at
Look, at her butt"

Now, just remember that this reviewer believes that this particular album is just 0,9 away from being an absolute classic, a sublime piece of music that should be remembered for the ages for its uniqueness and innovation. There is no objectivity to be found here, and a proper review shouldn't be 100% opinion. It should be analysis, evaluation, scrutiny, and, only eventually, judgement based on our preference. Quality lyrics? My 10-year old nephew could write a masterpiece compared to that nauseating, terrible and uninspired crap.

"You can disagree with him all you want, but at no point are you ever going to be able to pull off the impressive feat of making me believe that your opinion is any more valid than his"

That is exactly the problem here, this review is 100% opinion. Look up the definition of review please. You should know better, your own reviews are a thousand times better than this biased abomination.
I'll leave this thread now. I'm not taking myself too serious. I was censored for expressing my opinion and was displeased by having one of my comments deleted. It saddens me that this site where I find awesome new music every week has lately been replacing impartiality with incompetence and tolerating mods with angry troll censors.

Wisdom be with you!
