i must be the only person alive who thinks this is one of pink floyd's weakest albums (of their big ones). possibly the most overrated album of all time tbh

I go back and forth really. I like the darkness of Animals and I often find myself preferring it over this.

lol this is soooooo boring at times. the title track is w/e, shine on is amazing for like 2-3 minutes but has all that meandering, welcome to the machine is annoying. have a cigar is boring too. i mean, within these songs exists really awesome moments, but they're too few and far between. piper, dark side, final cut, animals, meddle - all way better imo

"i must be the only person alive who thinks this is one of pink floyd's weakest albums (of their big ones)."

If you exclude the last albums without Roger Waters (which IMO were not bona fide Pink Floyd albums because of his absence), then no, you aren't the only one.

Piper and Final Cut are definitely not better but a strong case can be made for the others you mentioned. This one isn't my favourite Floyd either, btw, I think Dark Side is their best

Very hard to disagree with this.

Yeah Gyro, it's always been my favourite and 1973 was an amazing year for prog in general.

Dark Side of the Moon is a cohesive work that flows from beginning to end -- I don't personally care for "Money," but even it belongs there, exactly in the spot where it is. Every note and bit of silence has its place. It's one of the great works of modern music, across all genres. If someone who had zero knowledge of popular music asked me for a collection of ten rock albums that are timeless masterworks, DSOTM would be included among them.

Wish You Were Here has some good moments, along with a few cringeworthy and a lot of mediocre ones. This would have been a great album if it had come from a lesser band, but it didn't.

^ as hyperbolic as that may sound, i'd have to agree. every passing moment on dark side has purpose, and everything flows seamlessly. everything's in its right place. musically it's far more impressive and engaging than this, which has a tendency to drag out solos for way too long

come to think of it though, the synths are actually so cheesy, and it drags for like 3 minutes more than it should
