Clean vocals are so good on this. Yeah they sound like they belong in a boy band but who gives a fuck lol. Anti-Axis is killer

Oh my god I forgot how fuckin hard The Great Oppressor goes til just now

I have never listened to this band. Are they an atg clone?
|
| |
no. Hidden Hands of a Sadist Nation is very well played atg worship, albeit faster tempo (and better songwriting, honestly) but the rest of their material is gothenberg-influenced melodic metalcore.
Check Deliver Us, best album.

Imo this is good but sounds too much like its tyrna cash in on the sound of metalcore at the time.
Still some stellar drumming and a good handful of killer riffs imo

Anti-Axis is so fuckin good

The last minute or so of Hypatia Rising has some of the best vocals ever

Anti-Axis is so fuckin good [2], easily stellar here

And there's nothing wrong with clean vocals as long they are good and fit, which clearly does here

When this came out it was quite a departure from what they did before, and the tone of it all made it kind of seem like they were trying to sell out. Rumor has it there was quite a bit of label interference pushing for more soaring cleans, and sometimes you can kind of tell because it seems out of place. Despite all of this I quite enjoy this album nowadays! It seems rather inoffensive in hindsight and John is a fucking good vocalist.

John is amazing, definitely. His melodic bits back on Deliver Us nailed it. But yeah, in contrast, here cleans are a good bit out of place.
No wonder they went full on aggressive on the next outing.

Yea its no coincidence that when they signed to Sumerian they drop their most accessible album. John's cleans are great tho always been a fan of em.

So we need to talk again about how good this album is
Like I kinda hated it when it came out because the increased presence of cleans sounded a bit forced to me
But fuck this shit is good
I'm gonna buy it on CD probably
