Rammstein isn't exactly great. The slow tempo doesn't suit Till's vocals back then and it is damn repetitive until it gets to the solo (which is admittedly amazing).
Everything Herzeleid has to offer is in the first half. Der Meister, Asche Zu Asche, the ones you mentioned. That's all great stuff. But once Du Riechst So Gut is over the LP falls flat.

you got to admit tho, the self-titled track is too good

Actually I'd need to ask, if you mean Rammstein or Herzeleid with self-titled. But I find them both pretty underwhelming, so I guess it doesn't matter.

i meant rammstein
and if "underwelming" is slang for "intense", then yes, its pretty underwhelming

The riff isn't intense, it's lazy. And Till's performance is far, far away from his best days. He sounded so much better on Sehnsucht and I'm not even gonna start with Mutter or Reise, Reise.

Rammstein is like one of their best songs dude

laichzeit and rammstein are great though

Laichzeit is actually quite disgusting. I really liked it back when I didn't pay that much attention to the lyrics, but it gets definitely more difficult when you keep them in mind. Still the best on the second half though, musically it's pretty strong.

i can get the gist of most of their songs but my command of german is weak so i do miss some things in the lyrics

It's actually a song about sex (which got difficult quite a few times throughout their discography), but they formed it into an allegory so it actually describes intercourse amongst fish. That makes it kind of the only song by them, where the lyrics bug me in a disturbing way (there are others that are just silly).

is that whats it about?
when i read a translation, i figured that it was about some crazy fisherman who pretends the fish he catches is his family or something

Nah, the title actually means spawning season. Although actually it's even more than just that. A little incest here, a little beastiality there and all wrapped up in that allegory.
They had quite many sex songs on their first two LPs, Bück Dich and Bestrafe Mich are about SM, Spiel Mit Mir about incest, Weisses Fleisch and Du Riechst So Gut about stalking.
But Laichzeit is the one that crosses some sort of line. The beat and the keys are damn good though.

reading through the lyrics, i did noticed a weird incest vibe
when they started to mention the guys dog i had a bad feeling

"It's actually a song about sex"
well yeah. it is rammstein after all.

The most obvious incest song is Spiel Mit Mir though. But it's just so much more atmospheric and even poetic, that it works out well.
And then there's Tier, which just rocks, but again is about incest and ties that together with some bestiality.

From Mutter onwards there aren't too many anymore actually. I mean, there are still Rein, Raus or Mann Gegen Mann and a few others. But all in all it's just their 90s work that is filled with sex of all sorts.

ICH WILL DASS IHR MICH HÖRT!
My fav song by them.
Mein Teil is good, though quite odd. If I had to pick, I'd say best lyrics go to Amour.
Though Alter Mann, Spieluhr, Mein Herz Brennt or Dalai Lama are all damn great lyrically and Moskau is just perfect too.

Mein Herz Brennt is probably my favourite lyrically.
