That was my main problem with this album. The monotone in Jordan's voice and the lazy instrumentals just bore me to point of insanity. yeah Vega and Wildlife were melodramatic, but at least they had energy.

like seriously, that's a crazy exaggeration. a lot of tracks here are quite energetic even if not as much as their previous ones. however jordan's songwriting is still gold and i think they really pull off this more subtle instrumental and vocal work

Artuma - I don't know man, I just find this album mind numbing. It's like Jordan has to modes: hushed sing/speaking, and exaggerated monotone screaming. It's not like I dislike stripped down production, it's just how most of the songs plod on and on. That's why I liked the shorter songs; they punch in, punch out.

that's way too negatively put imo but can't that be applied to wildlife too?

Artuma - yes, it can. That's a complaint that carries through all their albums, I just feel he usually has more interesting instrumentation behind him. Perhaps my complaint is more about the style than this band specifically, I've had the same complaints with Pianos Become The Teeth and Touche Amore.

Yeah. It takes the guilt out of downloading their music if you just downloaded it off a file sharing site =D I never really gave them a listen so I hope I can get into them.
