honestly i'm not sure if i've heard the remaster. my record is OG and i usually play from that but sometimes i'll just jam it from youtube, haven't really noticed two separate mixes, i'm going to look it up now.
edit - as i said before, do not skip morbid tales.

Brings the riffs, nice dense, heavy guitar sound too. And the atmospheric passages give it some personality/variety. I think this has room to grow.

The recent remasters sound nice; they didn't compress them too much. Tom says it's the best those records have sounded, but doesn't endorse them due to the label messing up his liner notes.

empires return isn't essential. just make sure you listen to the US release of morbid tales, it has two additional tracks from the same recording sessions

Yeah the original only has 6, right? The one I downloaded has 8 (well it actually looks like 9 but think that's to do with the way the intro was changed) plus some demos. Looked it up & pretty sure I have the expanded US edition. Thanks.
