Only thing I prefer in the original are the vocals.

lol, both vocals are stupid on painkiller imo, even if it's a cool song otherwise

I dig the heavier sound of the cover more and I feel it closes the album in a good way even if it's my least favorite track there, love how it explodes after the fade out of A Moment of Clarity. Both original and cover slay but I enjoy the cover slightly more, even though I'm more attached to the original.

uhhhhhh................................................................................
I just don't really get it. It has great moments but as a whole it just kind of rambles.
And yes the ending rules but it has literally nothing to do with the rest of the song

I see where you come from but to me that's a positive thing and I don't mind the transition, it makes it a cool closer.

This is dumb. Not only is it a perfect transition from the harder and melody-tinged prog jam of the bulk of the song, but its in perfect keeping with the lyrical themes, pulling beauty and light from darkness. Pulling melody from where hardness and death metal reigned. It's the ultimate ode and perfect ending to the album.
Just because it works lyrically doesn't mean it works musically. Just because it provides contrast also doesn't mean it works musically. The actual musical content of the final section literally comes out of nowhere, which is surprising given that Death's songs are generally very well thought out and structured.
The ending sounds like part of a completely different song that was never fleshed out properly. As much as I like it as a standalone section, it serves no musical purpose in relation to the rest of the song.
Ironically, though, it's actually the only part of the song that actually sticks with me. I've listened to it tons of times but the rest of the song really just isn't that memorable. Songs like the title track and Crystal Mountain are far stronger.

idk man. Like I get what you're saying but personally I just don't feel it. It seems like they couldn't come up with an ending so they just ramble off in a different direction and call that an ending.
Luckily, the rambling is really pretty, but it feels really detached from the material of the rest of the song. I'm still not entirely convinced by it.
I mean it's just a small, nit-picky thing. I still have the album at a 5, and pretty much all the other songs are perfect to me. I just was never convinced by the ending.

Fell asleep listening to music last night, woke up to See Through Dreams. Had to rock for a few minutes then went back to bed.

Thinking perrenial quest doesn't fit with the album as a whole is a wrong opinion

Saying that everything in Perennial Quest is forgettable except the outro is also a wrong opinion. So many awesome riffs and solos, the first solo is especally beautiful and has such a badass meaty riff behind it.

Vacant Planets it's like the most underrated song Death ever made[2]

Most underrated Death song? Idk, maybe "Secret Face" though I feel like any Death song with the title of 'most underrated' would be off the first three.
