Black and doom metal pre-dated death

Glam wasn't really THAT terrible. Sure, it was ridiculously commercialized and awfully soft for "metal", but there were a few decent bands. Still, thrash, death, black, and doom are leagues better.

There's some glam bands I dig, I'm just not the biggest fan of the subgenre.

Fair enough, Danny. It's just that glam gets so much flak thrown at it when there are MUCH worse subgenres of metal out there (i.e. Metalcore, Nu Metal, etc.)

Metalcore has more in common with punk anyway

Well, 90's metalcore is more punk-ish, and the early 2000's metalcore scene was more heavy metal. But I have no idea what these new bands like Attack Attack and Capture the Crown are.

Yeah thats why I only dig the early stuff. The genre was best when it stayed more on the punk side.

Nowadays the bands try too hard to be metal and if I want metal I'll listen to metal.

I miss the days when metalcore was just heavier hardcore

The new bands are barely even metal, though. At least Killswitch Engage or As I Lay Dying sounded somewhat true to their roots. Since '08, most of these guys like to throw in random trance beats and autotuned vocals.

They're not even hardcore either. Now its just chugging over shouted vocals. Absolutely no punk in it at all.

Won't you help me Mr. Jesus, won't you tell me if you can?

When you see this world we live in, do you still believe in Man?

If my songs become my freedom, and my freedom turns to gold.

Then I'll ask the final question, if the answer could be sold.

Those lyrics are so perfect.^

Side two of this doesn't really do it for me besides the Writ which is amazing. Side one is perfect though.
