Yeah I mean I'm not trying to compare. But Koloss is boring as fuck, love it or hate it.

I don't think Periphery's goal is to mimic Meshuggah anyway. They've taken a few things, sure, but then made something entirely different.

I really do hate how overrated they are, it's not fair.

I don't really like Periphery, or any other djent I've heard other than Vildhjarta. This band definitely rips off Meshuggah's sound, but it's so enjoyable I just don't give a fuck. Also, Catch 33 pwns.

yeah it was Misha's, but then the band he made was and still is lite as fuck. and this isn't that bad. Vildhjarta definitely delivered to my expecations but it's still weak.

i think their saving grace is that they were getting big around the same time as tesseract (who I was pretty excited about) but ended up keeping their balls

That and they are way heavier than Meshuggah.

maybe at the moment yeah cuz Koloss's focus wasn't to be heavy like Obzen or Chaosphere was.

this band is "heavier" cuz they got an extra guitarist and two vocalists with one doing lows. take that away and they're less exciting than they already are.

not only that but with that extra guitarist they can focus on atmospherics which helps bring out the chugs more whereas all 5 members of meshug focus on kicking faces in

I don't get how this is at a 3.8. Its the heaviest album I've ever heard. Its atmosphere is dark and beautiful, and dat thunder got groove.
