still cant warm up to this.. and i considered myself a fan..
what bums me out most is the redundant repeating of choruses to push all songs near the 10 minute mark. i love long songs, but there needs to be a reason a song reaches 10 mins. this just isnt it, dream theater just got benched for devin townsend. at least the initials remain the same, no matter which way you put it DT amazes me

These guys have released over 10 albums now, I'll cut them a bit of slack.

Great album. Bridges of the Sky is so awesome.

His drumming is really average though.

Good enough but the tracks are missing the Portnoy flair.

Yup, it isn't very good at all. The album is like Genre Cliches 101, so I really dunno why so many people seem to think otherwise.

Mike Portnoy is a marketing brand, and sometimes an overrated drummer.

No one dares speak down the name Mike Portnoy (que lightning, thunder, crazy organ player)

This grew on me a lot honestly. There are some really good moments, ie the chorus/bridge of Bridges in the Sky, and the whole last third of the album.
