I wish I liked this era more, tbh I don’t really even like this or Bless the Martyr aside from a few key tracks. Redeemer is where this band got gud imo

It’s been a minute since I listened to this but I just remember it aping Botch. Redeemer is where they came into their own. Plus Cory is a thousand times better.

I’m probably overly harsh on this one but I truly don’t get the love for Bless the Martyr

I never knew Cory and his brother played with Living Sacrifice for a bit. Also their first band Eso-Charis is pretty sick if no one's listened to that

no shot. I haven’t properly jammed either since probably high school but I remember this being a noticeable step up… even tho both are mid

Really if I did a lil discog run I’d be shocked if these weren’t at the bottom. For all the hate Anti Mother and Meridional seem to get, I’d take them over both of these two.

Martyr and this both sound like a band that doesn’t really know what the fuck they wanna do other than copy bands that were already doing it longer and better. They really found their sound after this.

It’s actually fucking criminal that the next three, Redeemer especially, have lower avgs than their first two

20 years later and people still throw this argument huh

Yea its an insane argument. Throwing Myself by Luti-Kriss was doing the nu metal meets metalcore in the late 90s and is better than pretty much all the bands aping that sound now. I also think Bless the Martyr was ahead of its time despite wearing its influences in its sleeves
