The Blues is a fun damn song, and most of the work on here isn't as bad as it's claimed to be.

Then why a 2.5? For one track that is rather high.

Some songs show potential in key moments, like Learn to Live, BTN and the Blues all have little things I like. There's some decent shit spread out, but I don't find any of the whole songs to be good with the exception of Red Eyes.

By far architects' weakest album, but at least there are some songs that embrace accessibility and decent musicianship-yet these seem to be the first few songs, and so the rest of the album is rather average and lackluster. The closing song is largely helped by Ben Weinman and his guest appearance on the track, but the instrumentation songs such as 'Btn' and 'An open letter to myself' is so weak it's barely even noticeable, leaving Carter's even weaker vocals to produce something the least bit exciting. That said, 'Delete, rewind' and 'Day in day out' are both very prominent in an album which is otherwise average.

It's hilarious how they kept saying in interviews how this was the new them and they have never felt more comfortable in their skin and then a year later, they are like "Oh, we realized that totally wasn't us" and attempted a return to roots
