They're very strong songwriters. I'm very curious about their next album.

The artwork is not bad, but it would have been extremely cooler if it was in style of the singles' artworks

I guess there aren't that many metal bands that have it in 'em like Maiden does. It's easy to get washed-up after a while.

These guys have aged really well and hold up as legends of heavy metal.

Definitely. They're solid songwriters and take good care of themselves.

Agreed with both^

I do hope they simplify things on the next album though.

Same here. All their "recent" material seems to drag a bit plus it sounds a a little weird. A 45-50 minute back to the basics album would be awesome.

Bare in mind the last time they tried to go back to basics resulted in No Prayer for the Dying...

Not really, Adrian was absent and it was a tough time for heavy metal music

haha correct. But I'd be content with an improved version of NPftD that's for sure.

Plus Bruce's vox is a bit weird on NPftD. I trust that he won't use that technique again.

A back-to-basics album could be cool. But I like how they're just not sitting on their laurels and keep

their sound evolving even after all those years, so personally I love their more ambitious recent stuff

I remember giving this a decent amount of time when released but it hasn't held up terribly well for me.

I think it would have a different dynamic if it was 10 minutes shorter

Yeah, if they had just trimmed the fat a bit it would have helped the pace of the album a lot.

100% agree. Whilst I like the last 3 records, they lack the energy the shorter, faster songs of yesteryear has. That energy was what made Maiden so special IMO

These dudes are in their 50's/60's, it's a miracle they're still pumping out music and I highly doubt they'll produce anything with the speed and ferocity of their 80's material.

All the lenghtier songs here are highlights in my opinion, whereas most of the shorter songs don't stand out that much. I feel this sort of slighlty progressive sound just seems much more natural to them right now.
