"I’m going to go full on mental and say that Ashes to Ashes is one of the greatest songs of the 90s it really is."
Love it zak, song is a mammoth. Played it in high shool music class for our group performance hehe

@Doof I think what rubs people the wrong way on this album and KFAD is the 'musical nihilism' - tracks like Cuckoo For Caca, Ugly in the Morning and Got That Feeling, which are just id-driven blasts of anger and vulgarity. It seems the band weren't interested in making those songs high-concept or majestic in the slightest.
It isn't that the band was no longer capable - hell, see Stripsearch or Evidence, among many more examples. They just wanted to pen some visceral, lowbrow songs with a punk rock attitude and antagonistic vocals. Totally get why you might give those tracks a 1/5, but I've come to dig them. I stopped looking for deep themes or pretty melodies, and just let them punch me in the face. Worked well enough.

king was one of my favs as a kid but listening to it now a lot of it seems sorta uninspired even though it's bouncing all over the place style wise

Yeah, time to jam these guys again. Was just giving KFAD a spin again yesterday. This band rules so hard.

Album dips in the middle (minus Ashes to Ashes) but everything else rules hard.
Patton's voice on that track is incredible.

Ah, you really think so? I think it's damn consistent from beginning to end. And Patton's performance is top-tier for sure.

However She Loves Me Not is the weakest track on here indeed.

The album starts off hella strong with the first 3 songs, wobbles in the middle a bit then picks up after Ashes to Ashes m/

Naked In Front Of The Computer is among my favs on here and the Bungle-esque sound of Mouth To Mouth is just amazing.
If I think about it She Loves Me Not is the only track I don't enjoy to the max, all other tracks are strong af. Might have to bump up my rating eventually.
