so. after first listen i don't know what to think. its so well-made, the guitars, bass, electronics are all awesome and interesting and each song has cool ditties that are catchy as hell. but the songs themselves, they're not all that catchy, and are kind of indulgent. i think it will grow but so far it feels like a slightly awkward transition between pop and deeper indie.

so "settle" is the song formally known as "this is moon".

new album 3.0/5.0 after one whole listen.

I have yet to give it a listen, but I do think that growth factor will be the all-important component. As much as we would have all loved another catchy LP like this one, it probably would not be in their best long-term interest to deliver that.

I dunno Davey, they're pretty popular here, I couldn't see it being a bad thing if they had another record as catchy as this one...

This album is actually really growing on me. I think I'm gonna bump it up. Not sure what I didn't get with it before.
What's the new one like?

Did someone say "horns"? I'm in.

You're strange Stephen. This is one of the most immediate albums I have listened to in the past few years... & it's "growing" on you!

Yeah. =P

I didn't like the sounds on the guitars before but now I do. Same as the vocalists voice. Didn't like
it before but I think I do now. =)

I'll be interested in hearing the second album now. Horn sections? Colour me excited.

new album is a lot more varied and mature than this album. i imagine people who weren't so much into this album will like the second one a lot more. there's some real beauty in the new album that's gradually opened itself up to me. nothing too sing-along though.

Sounds like my thing. Reminds me of what Bombay Bicycle Club did with there sound. I didn't like any of their albums before A Different Kind of Fix but I loved that album. Had a more focused, cohesive sound and... yeah great.

Looking forward to this now! How did you hear it man?

I'm sure the band'll put a stream online.

What's the mixing like? Does it sort of play around with your ears or is it a balanced?

from what i remember the mixing is really well-done. better than the first album. lots of interesting elements in either channel. sounded great in headphones.
