For me:
Pray For Rain - 4.5/5
Babel - 3.5/5
Splitting the Atom - 3.5/5
Girl I Love You - 3.5/5
Psyche - 3/5 (Wish the Splitting the Atom EP version was on here instead tbh)
Flat of the Blade - 4.5/5
Paradise Circus - 5/5 (Seems like a bit of a lowball tho)
Rush Minute - 2/5
Saturday Come Slow - 3/5
Atlas Air - 2/5

"dang thats a large range for an album you've given a 5, Mezz imo has nothing below a 4"
i wouldn't take my ratings too seriously
mezz has nothing below a 5 tbqh, it's one of the greatest albums ever recorded

"Pots your 5s are a mystery to me"
let me just put it this way
i've been on here for over a decade and most of my ratings are intact and unadjusted. somewhere along the line it became a choice to either take ratings less seriously or wipe them entirely and start fresh. I used to be so anal that I wouldn't allow myself to have multiple 5's per artist along with other weird rules. but I value having all these outdated ratings as a reference point and just couldn't bear to lose them. so I opted for the first option. consequently, in taking this all less seriously, some of my ratings are just for the lulz now and some are just completely arbitrary. as for this one, well I have Massive Attacks entire discog obligatorily 5'd.

"mezz has nothing below a 5 tbqh, it's one of the greatest albums ever recorded"
definitely, though I wish they ended it with Group Four instead of the redux Exchange with vocals, even though I like that ending - thats prolly the only 4 on the album, while the instrumental is lovely and a great bridge between Inertia and Dissolved
"though the title is kinda tacky"
no no, the title of Girl I Love You, I actually avoided listening to the song cus I was scared Massive Attack would go Coldplay on me, but listening to it i realized it's like Massive Attack trying to cover Radiohead's National Anthem and doin a great job too lol
|
| |
Well i can at least get down with Rush Minute being a 1 and Flat of the Blade being a 5.
Blue Lines through Mezz are genuine 5's for me but if i had to rate this and 100th Window honestly I'd give this a 3.5 and 100th window a 3.
|
| |
@flashmobba oh wtf sorry i read that as 'title track' for some reason.

Seems to be overlooked that one, kinda easy to see why considering Mezz and Blue Lines are both flagship albums.

I never dug Paradise Circus much, the vocal delivery is pretty annoying, and it sounds like the theme song for a gossip girl reboot at the start
if they do release a new LP, i hope they follow the Ritual Spirit sound, that was a very promising EP
|
| |
Yeah and it's not as distinct as those two imo. Not that it's worse by any means, but it was a pretty natural progression from Blue Lines where Mezzanine is a complete departure. But that could be part of the reason for that.

Agreed.
Mezz is a bit of a shock to the system after the 2 albums that preceded it.
