This is effete in a stick thin French bloke who smokes about 70 fags a day while holding them in a woman like manner (hand on hip, the lot) but is probably hung like a horse
Not effete in an anime, cutesy eyed, bashfully shy, fawned over by 50yr olds spaffing from their shrew like penises into school girl underwear bought from a vending machine way.

Interesting, "Tir Nan Og" is my least favorite here at a 4/5. "Printemps Emeraude" and "Les Iris" are 5s, rest are 4.5s.
We need to get Doof to weigh in on this, could we have a rare Boney/zak consensus but a Doof hate? He rated their most recent one a 2 (I have that one at a 4.5 as well).

This one mostly doesn't have the metal their other stuff does, instead it's primarily folky shoegaze but it's very twee in a way... My guess is a Doof 2.5 but I could be surprised, I would have thought zak wouldn't get much out of it either.

I hate the incessant listen, move on, grab the next one compare ‘culture’ that’s occurred with streaming.
I took a walk in the countryside with this on earlier. Along a bridle path, not a soul around, drizzly, slate gray skies and it registered like ‘the old days’

I agree, take your time. This one's special, deserves to be savored. Ecailles is special too but in a very different way.

Yeah I mean this was sort of ground zero for "blackgaze" (even though imo this doesn't count as a blackgaze album itself). It's really all about the atmosphere though. Reading into the backstory of this/the Alcest project in general might help though I myself am a bit skeptical about whether Neige made it all up...who knows.
