The only thing in common I'd say both bands have is that I like maybe 4-5 songs in their entire discog

some nice indie pop moments on this. But (just like every other Death Cab LP) it's pretty hard to listen to this front to back without falling asleep.

Maybe this so you can get a feel for their sound, but Trans is perfect.

trans is more consistent but this has marching bands of manhattan so
don’t like crooked teeth or stable song but fucking hell when this knocks it out of the park it’s easily some of their best material

Spinning this in full for the first time in years... I'll always have a complicated relationship with this record but I'll be damned if the peaks on this aren't some of their best songs.

ive always hated crooked teeth for some reason but the opening three song stretch is definitely among their best work

The whole stretch from Your Heart Is an Empty Room through Crooked Teeth is very weak, those three track are what holds this back from a 4 for me... Marching Bands, Summer Skin, I Will Follow You Into the Dark, What Sarah Said, and Brothers on a Hotel Bed are all superb though. Stable Song is great as well, but it's slightly unnecessary; I like the original version from the Stability EP with the drawn out ending better.
