Keep in mind that producers don't go to sound school or whatever to learn how to destroy music, it's often pressure from the label executives that forces them to master things this way.

The consumer gets a pile of shit, the sound guy gets blamed for everything despite his best intentions to try and find a balance so he doesn't lose his job and the label and band ends up with a turkey of an album that gets lambasted critically because it is too loud and loses all the dynamics that make recorded music a wonderful thing. Nobody wins.

I fully agree with this statement and I understand the ups and downs with the industry, but I know for a fact that he fucked up this record not only with his production, but with the way he motivated the band to just go into the studio and do a rush-job. I swear it, if they had actually allowed the band to just do its normal routine, we would have had a better end product. Sorry, just a little bitter this came out the way it did. Huge fan of this band.

I've had the title track in my head at least four times a week for the last 5 months...

Best Slayer album ever, even better than Reign In Blood and Seasons In The Abyss (and this is my favourite band so I'm going to ignore all those walking abortions who gave this less than a 3.5).
