Easily one of the most moving and hard-hitting (emotionally) albums ever. Tell me you dont put this cd on and dont feel some sort of shit. It just puts me in deep deep thought, and thats the perfect definition of music.

This is the best-selling album of all time... not quite 5/5 stars though
except Thriller sold 60 million more copies

Overrated album but still a classic. The Wall is better in my opinion though.

This and Wish You Were Here are equally awesome in my mind. I don't have Animals, The Wall, or Meddle, so I have a lot to look forward to

Animals is, in my opinion, Floyd's best. The Wall is amazing as well. I can't comment on Meddle though, haven't heard enough to have an opinion on it

'As Dave Gilmour put it when asked what the album was about, "It's about life, isn't it?" What's interesting about that quote is the air of uncertainty that he displays; as one of the four creators of the album, you'd expect him to have a pretty solid grasp of where they were going with it'

Actually, Gilmour's use of the term "isn't it" in that context functions as passive reinforcement of something stated with reasonable assurance, and can also act as a prompt for a response. It doesn't come across very well in writing, but when spoken it doesn't carry the inflection which commonly denotes uncertainty - a weird quirk of English as spoken by the English. ;)

For example, I consider Dark Side of the Moon to be a fantastic album, so I might say something like "Dark Side of the Moon is a fantastic album, isn't it?" (yet I'm not actually in any doubt!)

Extremely overrated album, maybe i just don't get it. Their other stuff is great though.
